I put two of these in a UPS a year ago and they still are functioning perfectly. For gel-cells this means they have not been used and that they are not old.
UPS Replacement Battery February 18, 2009

Replacing the old battery was a snap, remove a few screws to release the plate over the battery compartment, slide out the old battery, unhook two battery leads, reconnect leads to the replacement battery, slide the replacement back into the compartment, and screw back on the plate holding the battery in its compartment. I then plugged the UPS in to let the replacement battery charge. After charging for 12 hours I tried the UPS and it worked just like a new device.

Bought in Jan 2005; started getting low battery warnings 3 Years latter (Jan 2008)
Stopped working completely (to the point the APC would not power on with this battery) in Sep 2008.
A little disappointed in that other OEM batteries seem to go closer to 5 years.
