Makes nice labels June 16, 2010 Philip J. Bohlken (Caldwell, Idaho) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am just getting started with this. I thought I could pick it up and start making labels, but I learned I need to read the instructions several times. There has been a learning curve for me.
I want to use a left-over power adapter from another device. It took a while, but I finally found the requirements: 9 VDC, 1.6 Amp, center point negative.
I had trouble peeling the backing from the new label until I noticed the backing is slitted lengthwise. Gently fold the new label toward the side with the writing. The slit in the backing will open a little. Peel off the two halves.
I want to get some white on black tape to use for restoring letters on some computer keyboards.
Great machine - works well but takes 6 triple A batteries June 8, 2010 Jesse Washkau (Atlanta, GA) I really have had great experience with this device. My only complaint is that it takes 6 AAA batteries to power something so basic which seems a bit crazy. Other than that, it is a great value and has worked well so far.
meh.. older models were better May 24, 2010 Bruce Brocka (Quad Cities) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Since these were $10 almost-giveaways from Staples at Christmas, I picked up one. I've used the older model for years. The only complaint I had (and STILL have) is that these waste tape - the margins CANNOT be reduced below an inch, thus wasting a lot of expensive tape. Beyond this annoying feature, this model has no means of clearing the label, except by backspacing one letter at a time. The instructions say you can clear the whole line, but not in reality -much the way they say you can trim margins, but actually can't). I think they've tried to add too many features in a base model, and should just stick to a plain Jane model.
Nonetheless, I still use these constantly at work and home, despite their highly wasteful nature.
Nice and Inexpensive May 19, 2010 M. Cromlish (NC, USA) Haven't figured out all of the features yet, but this is a great little tool for the price. Very pleased with the quality of this unit. Laminated labels are easy to peal and stick very well. I look forward to finding things that need to be labeled.
Great labeler but devours batteries! April 14, 2010 S. A. Richardson (Baltimore, MD) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was desperate for a labeler, and purchased this at my local OfficeMax. It's a great labeler, looks great on my desk, functions great (without reading the manual!) but after just a couple days use, I needed to replace the batteries. If you get this labeler, get an AC adapter as well. Only other down-side is that cartridges are pricey.
June 2010 Update: Purchased this in April - I don't do a lot of labeling, but have replaced label cartridges twice and batteries 3x. Still think it's a good labeler but invest in the plug-in charger and plan to go through cartridges fairly frequently.
